Mugs!

Written by Sarah Wednesday, 03 December 2008 10:47

This year sees the launch of the limited-edition HASTE charity mug. Decorated with our logo, a beautiful picture of the kids from Erenyang School in Serrekunda and our slogan 'More HASTE, less need’, the mugs are in full colour, dishwasher and microwave safe. They are priced at £6 and, as usual, 100% of our profits go to HASTE.

Merry Christmas and a happy and successful new year

Written by Sarah Wednesday, 03 December 2008 10:44

Thank you so much to all of our supporters who have made all our works in Africa possible. We have had a very successful year of fundraising, from our quiz at St Philip’s Church Hall in FinchIey, in February, to our garden party at 38 Canonbury Park South in July.
The highlight of 2008 was undoubtably the auction at the National Liberal Club in April, where we raised over £7,000 — no doubt, at least in part, due to some very popular belly dancing lessons, kindly donated by a former Miss Azerbaijan! Next year we hope to have equal success at the same venue with our Valentine’s Ball, which is to take place on Friday 13th February. Tickets will be on sale very soon.

Latest from Uganda

Written by Sarah Wednesday, 03 December 2008 10:37

HASTE started building and developing schools in Kenya and Uganda in 2004 and now has two schools up and running. One school is in Kisumu, in the north of Kenya, and the other in the village of Okiwra, Uganda.
Trustee Fiona Ferguson and three others travelled to Okiwra in December 2007 to visit the project and to assess the level of financial support required. They were welcomed and assisted by Father Michael, a Catholic priest based in Kisumu, who has been invaluable in monitoring progress of the building works at both sites and who has been vigilant in ensuring that the project gets value for money regarding materials and labour.
